Description

The Red Tail Black Shark (Epalzeorhynchos bicolor), also known as the redtail sharkminnow, is a striking freshwater fish belonging to the carp family (Cyprinidae). Renowned for its jet-black body and vibrant ruby-red caudal fin, it is one of the most iconic but misunderstood fish in the aquarium hobby. Though common in stores, this species is critically endangered in its native waters of Thailand due to pollution and habitat alterations, meaning the global aquarium trade relies entirely on commercial captive breeding.
