Quick Care & Overview Guidelines

• Adult Size: They grow surprisingly large, typically reaching 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) in captivity.
• Tank Size: Requires a minimum of 30 to 55 gallons for a fully grown adult to prevent territorial stress.
• Water Parameters: Prefers a temperature range of 22–26°C (71–79°F) and a highly adaptable pH of 6.5–7.5.
• Diet Shift: While juveniles are strictly herbivorous and clear out algae quickly, adults require a more omnivorous diet. They must be fed sinking algae wafers, pellets, and protein supplements (like brine shrimp) to avoid health issues.
