Leopard Snakehead

They get their name mainly from the fact that their heads have a snake-like appearance, but it may also have something to do with their sharp teeth. They are one of the few social species of the Channidae family and as juveniles they will swim together in schools as well as hunt together when mature.

Description

The leopard snakehead is a medium-sized. aggressive fish with large black spoted. Has 44–45 pored scales on its body and two scales on the base of its caudal fin. Has a unique color pattern with large black spots on its head, opercle, and body. Has a broad white and black margin to its dorsal, anal, and caudal fins. Can reach a maximum length of 14.1 cm. Originally described from hill streams in the Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, India. Is aggressive and should be kept alone or in a very large tank with many hiding places. Should be fed an insect-based diet of roaches, crickets, and occasional mealworms.
